Landmark Transfer Pricing Tax Decision

The Full Federal Court today determined Singtel’s transfer pricing appeal against the disallowance of $890 million of interest deductions.

The interest accrued on a $5.2 billion loan used in part to fund the acquisition of telecommunications giant Optus in 2002 for $14.2 billion.

Chris Peadon of New Chambers was a member of the taxpayer’s counsel team.

Chris has significant experience in international tax issues, including taxation of cross-border financing arrangements, and gains made by foreign residents on disposals of Australian assets.

Please direct enquiries as to Chris’ availability to the Clerk, Ms Angela Noakes.
