New Chambers welcomes a leading Silk, Liam Kelly KC.
Liam brings a wealth of knowledge with over 30 years’ experience at the bar. He has an extensive practice with expertise in commercial and corporate law, insurance, insolvency, equity, and construction disputes. He has a great depth of experience in commercial matters litigated under contracts, the law of torts, the Australian Consumer Law, and competition principles. He has been involved in numerous disputes involving the setting of prices for access to major infrastructure, matters relating to disputes involving large mining projects, and royalty disputes concerning the sale by miners of natural resources such as coal and gas. Liam has appeared in and worked on arbitrations in Brisbane, Perth, Singapore, Dubai, London and Houston.
He has existing chambers at Gerard Brennan Chambers in Brisbane and is a member of Maxwell 42, a chambers in Singapore of Australian barristers and ex judicial officers involved in international arbitration.
Liam took silk in 2005, having commenced practising as a barrister in 1992.
Prior to coming to the bar, he completed an honours degree in English Literature and a law degree at the University of Queensland. He was awarded the University Medal in law. In 1989, Liam was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship for the State of Queensland and completed a BCL at the University of Oxford.
Liam has been repeatedly listed in Best Lawyers top lawyers in litigation and in ‘Bet the Company in Litigation’.
