The World Tax publication has recognised New Chambers with a notable mention for General Corporate Tax in their recently released rankings for 2024. New Chambers is the only barristers chambers listed in the rankings.
World Tax has listed three of our New Chambers’ members as Highly Regarded leading tax practitioners in Australia:
- David Bloom KC
- Chris Peadon
- Courtney Ensor (also Women in Tax Leader)
They are each involved in closely-watched appellate tax cases including:
- David leading Keni Josifoski in a recent Full Federal Court appeal concerning luxury car tax;
- Chris acting for the taxpayer in the $800 million SingTel transfer pricing dispute (appeal currently reserved), as well as for the Bechtel Group in a significant FBT case concerning FIFO employees (currently on appeal), and for an individual taxpayer in a CGT dispute (Hedges); and
- Courtney acting for the Commissioner in recent proceedings in the Full Federal Court (JMC; extant special leave application to the High Court) and on remittal from the High Court (Jamsek) concerning the employee / contractor distinction.
