Speaking to Capital Brief recently about the Bar’s use of the new and emerging AI tools available in the legal market, New Chambers’ David McLure SC shared his perspective:
“…But none of them are better or faster than a competent junior barrister.
Of course an AI platform will produce a document more quickly than a lawyer, but when you have regard to obligations to the court, the time you spend quality-checking means it is not actually faster.
New Chambers will continue evaluating AI tools, and we expect these platforms to improve over time. The tipping point will be reached when the quality is beyond that of a competent junior barrister.”
