New Chambers’ newest reader – Liam Cavell

New Chambers would like to welcome its newest reader, Liam Cavell, who recently completed the NSW Bar Practice Course.

Liam accepts briefs in all areas of law. He has particular experience in commercial litigation, regulatory matters and criminal law.

Prior to coming to the Bar, he was a Senior Associate at Arnold Bloch Leibler where he represented and advised companies and individuals across commercial disputes, white collar criminal matters, and investigations.

Before joining Arnold Bloch Leibler, Liam was a Senior Federal Prosecutor at the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. In this role, Liam prosecuted tax, social security and financial services offences. He also has expertise in offences concerning voting and political donations, and was briefly seconded to the Australian Electoral Commission.

Prior to that, Liam worked at Herbert Smith Freehills and was Associate to her Honour Judge Flannery SC in the District Court of New South Wales.

During his time as a solicitor, Liam worked on matters before the Local Court, Coroners Court, District Court, Land and Environment Court, and Supreme Court of New South Wales, as well as the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Federal Court. He has appeared in the Local and District Courts, including in summary hearings, bail applications, indictable sentences and appeals.
