Experience

The Hon. Patrick Keane AC KC specialises in commercial law, equity and constitutional law mediation and arbitrations including, early neutral evaluations.

In March 2013, he was appointed to the High Court of Australia and retired in October 2022.

He served as the Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia from 2010 to 2013 and as a judge of the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Queensland from 2005 to 2010.

From 1992 to 2005, he was the Solicitor-General for Queensland and a highly distinguished barrister.

In 2015, the Hon. Patrick Keane AC KC was appointed a Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia for eminent service to the law and the judiciary.

Prior to coming to the bar, he was a graduate of the University of Queensland and Oxford University.  He was admitted to practice as a barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1977 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1988.
