
New Chambers proudly congratulates four of our members on their appointment as Senior Counsel today. Emma Beechey SC, Caspar Conde SC, Matt Karam SC, and Greg O’Mahoney SC.
This is a significant professional honour, and we are delighted to celebrate this achievement with them.
Emma Beechey SC
Emma began practising at the NSW Bar on 6 September 2013. Her practice is in commercial law, specialising in insolvency and cross-border insolvency. Emma began her legal career as Associate to the Hon. Susan Kiefel AC, Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia (then Justice of the High Court). Emma became an INSOL International Fellow in 2018 and has authored the Australian module of its Foundation Certificate in International Insolvency Law since 2021. She is also a Professional Member of Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA) and is a member of a professional conduct committee.
Caspar Conde SC
Caspar began practising at the NSW Bar on 28 September 2012. His practice is in commercial and public law. Before coming to the Bar, Caspar was Associate to the Hon. Ian Callinan AC (then a Justice of the High Court of Australia). He was admitted as a solicitor on 6 October 2006 and later worked as a Senior Associate at Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens). Caspar is a member of a professional conduct committee.
Matt Karam SC
Matt has practised at the independent Bar for 19 years, commencing in New Zealand in August 2007 and in New South Wales on 25 August 2014. He specialises in commercial, insolvency and insurance litigation and has extensive experience in professional negligence and sports law. He has served on the Costs and Fees Committee and is currently a member of both a professional conduct committee and the Professional Development Committee.
Greg O’Mahoney SC
Greg began practising at the NSW Bar on 3 May 2010. He has a broad commercial and public law practice, appearing in courts, arbitral tribunals, and commissions of inquiry. Before coming to the Bar, Greg was a solicitor at Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now Mallesons), lectured at the University of Sydney and was Associate to the Hon. A M Gleeson AC KC (then Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia). Greg has served on the Practice Development Committee and is currently a member of the Inquests and Inquiries Committee.
