Catherine has a broad commercial and public law practice. Prior to coming to the Bar, Catherine was a Solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer where she worked on commercial litigation, class actions, judicial reviews and discrimination cases.
Catherine was Research Assistant to the Chief Justice of Queensland, the Hon. Catherine Holmes AC SC, and Associate to the Hon. Justice Peter Flanagan KC, Judge of Appeal. She served as a Manager of the Cambridge Pro Bono Project while she read for a Master of Laws at the University of Cambridge and she has held casual academic positions in constitutional law and administrative law.
She graduated third in her Bachelor of Laws degree with five subject prizes and the Outstanding Achievement Prize for Overall Excellence. Her published research on public law and human rights has been recognised by several awards.
Patrick accepts briefs in all areas of law. He has particular expertise in commercial and corporations matters arising from his time as a solicitor working on various high-value and high-profile matters.
Patrick was admitted as a solicitor in 2019 and trained at Herbert Smith Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer) in Sydney. He went on to practise at Slaughter and May in London. In that time, he was recognised as a “key lawyer” in the Legal 500 2026 for Band 1 litigation premium and worked across the English Courts as well as those in Bermuda, Singapore, and Kenya. He has led mediations for his clients and has experience in arbitration, including a challenge to an arbitral award (SIAC) alleging damages in excess of US$5.5 billion.
Previously he was employed as a tipstaff in the Court of Appeal (Hon Justice R.W. White) and the Common Law Division (Hon Justice P.R. Garling RFD).
He holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (Distinction) from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) from the University of Sydney alongside subject prizes. Patrick also enjoys an academic interest in the law. His peer-reviewed academic work has been cited in the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of the ACT and he was previously employed as a Tutor and Sessional Academic at the University of Sydney. He remains an editor of the leading academic work on civil procedure.
